Popular Korean skincare gets copied, and some products reach the US through gray-market channels. A few habits lower your risk.

Start with where it is sold

Warning signs

Read the package when it arrives

Different versions of the same product

Some brands sell different versions in Korea, the US and other regions, with different packaging, sizes and sometimes ingredients. This is especially true of sunscreens (see our sunscreen guide). A Korean-market item on a US store can be perfectly genuine and still not match the US version. Read the listing to see which one you are getting.

If something looks wrong

Stop using it, keep the packaging, and contact the seller and the brand. If it caused a reaction, see a doctor.

What KBIndex does and doesn't check

KBIndex shows prices from retailers and links you to them. We do not verify that a seller is authorized or that a product is genuine. Use the steps above, and check the brand's own site if in doubt.
